Pay CRA by online banking
You can pay your personal and business taxes to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) through your financial institution’s online banking app or website. Most financial institutions also let you set up a payment to be made on a future date.
How to pay your individual taxes online
- Sign in to your financial institution’s online banking service for individuals.
- Under “Add a payee” look for an option such as:
- CRA (revenue) – current-year tax return
- Use this option to make a payment for your current tax return. You can use this option only once per return.
- CRA (revenue) – tax amount owing
- Use this option to pay any amount owing.
- CRA (revenue) – tax instalment
- Use this option to make payments toward the future tax year.
- CRA (revenue) – current-year tax return
- Enter your 9-digit social insurance number as your CRA account number.
Make sure the number is accurate so that the CRA can apply your payment correctly.
How long it takes
When you make a payment, your financial institution’s online banking app or website will display the date your payment was made. Payments are usually received by the CRA within 5 business days. To avoid fees and interest, please make sure you pay on time.
